Laser Cutting Nozzles for Fiber Laser Cutting Heads
A laser cutting nozzle is the small copper part screwed into the bottom of a fiber laser cutting head. The laser beam and the assist gas both leave the head through its tip. The nozzle shapes the gas jet that blows molten metal out of the cut, and it helps stop spatter from flying back up to the protective lens. On heads with capacitive height sensing, the nozzle is also part of the sensing circuit, so the nozzle and the ceramic ring around it need to be clean and properly fitted.
To order the right laser cutting nozzle, match three things: the body diameter and thread (D32 with an M14 thread, D28 with M11, or the 15 mm M12 type), the layer type (single or double), and the tip size. SparesZone lists 212 sizes from 1.0 to 5.0 mm, starting at ₹205 per piece with a GST invoice.
Three Checks Before You Order a Laser Cutting Nozzle
Three things decide whether a nozzle fits your head and suits your job. Check them in this order:
- Body diameter and thread - will it fit the head? The nozzle screws into the ceramic ring or nozzle holder at the bottom of the head, so its body and thread must match. Our nozzles come in D32 (32 mm body, M14 thread), D28 (28 mm body, M11 thread) and M12 (15 mm body), and D15 nozzles are for tube cutting heads. Measure the old nozzle with a vernier, or check the thread on your ceramic ring.
- Layer type - single or double? Single layer is the usual choice for nitrogen or air cutting of stainless steel and aluminium. Double layer is the usual choice for oxygen cutting of mild steel and carbon steel. If your machine's cutting parameter table names a nozzle type, follow the table.
- Tip size - which hole size? Choose it from the material and its thickness: smaller tips for thin sheet, bigger tips for thick plate. The tip size does not change the fit, so settle checks 1 and 2 first.
Please check before you order. Under our Return & Replacement Policy, a nozzle the buyer selected in the wrong size cannot be returned. If you are not sure, WhatsApp the head model or a clear photo of the old nozzle to +91 92740 95891 and we will tell you which listing matches.

D32 or D28? Raytools Heads and the Nozzle They Take
On Raytools heads the nozzle screws into the ceramic ring, so the ring's thread tells you which nozzle to buy. In our range, D32 nozzles have an M14 thread and D28 nozzles have an M11 thread. These are the head models listed against each ceramic ring thread in the SparesZone ceramic ring range:
| Nozzle | Thread | Raytools Heads Listed with This Ceramic Ring Thread |
|---|---|---|
| D32 (32 mm body) | M14 | BT240S, BM109, BM110, BM111, BM111E, BM114S |
| D28 (28 mm body) | M11 | BM114, BM114E, BM115, BM115E, BM06K, BS04K, BS08K |
Watch the letter after the model number. The BM114S is listed with the M14 ring (D32 nozzle), while the BM114 and BM114E are listed with the M11 ring (D28 nozzle). Heads can differ by version, so if the label is unclear, measure the body of the old nozzle - 32 mm or 28 mm - or read the thread on the ceramic ring. For other heads, including the BS12K, BS15K and BS20K, send us the old nozzle's measurements or a photo before ordering. Our D15 tube cutting nozzles are listed for BT210S, BM109, BM111 and BM112 tube cutting heads.
Nozzle Markings - What D28, M11, H15 and 1.5S Mean
A nozzle is usually described by a short code. Each part of the code is a separate measurement, and only the first three decide the fit:
- D28 or D32 - the outside body diameter in mm, which must suit the head
- M11, M12 or M14 - the thread that screws into the ceramic ring or holder
- H15 - the nozzle height in mm, which should match the nozzle you are replacing
- 1.5S or 1.2D - the tip size in mm, with S for single layer and D for double layer
Tip size is a cutting choice, not a fitting choice: a 1.5 mm and a 2.0 mm D28 nozzle fit the same head.
Single Layer vs Double Layer Nozzle
A single layer nozzle has one gas channel. A double layer nozzle adds an inner sleeve, so the gas leaves through two channels. Laser machine makers give the same general rule for choosing between them:
| Point | Single Layer Nozzle | Double Layer Nozzle |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | One gas channel | Inner and outer layer, two gas channels |
| Usual assist gas | Nitrogen or air | Oxygen |
| Usual materials | Stainless steel, aluminium, copper | Mild steel, carbon steel |
| What it helps with | Clean, oxide-free edge on stainless steel | Less burr and slag on carbon steel |
| Finish on SparesZone listings | Listed as non-coated where the finish is stated | Listed as coated where the finish is stated |
This is the general rule published by laser machine makers. Their guides also note an exception on machines of 12 kW and above: for oxygen cutting with negative focus, a single layer nozzle is typically used, while oxygen cutting with positive focus usually takes a double layer nozzle. So where your machine's cutting table names a nozzle type, the table comes first.
Laser Cutting Nozzle Size Chart - Tip Size by Sheet Thickness
A smaller tip gives a faster gas stream that clears thin sheet well. A bigger tip gives a slower stream that suits thick plate. As a starting point, these are the sizes given in a laser machine maker's published nozzle guide:
| Sheet Thickness | Mild or Carbon Steel - Oxygen, Double Layer | Stainless Steel - Nitrogen, Single Layer |
|---|---|---|
| 1 mm | 1.0 mm | 1.0 mm |
| 2-3 mm | 1.0 mm (below 3 mm) | 1.5 mm |
| 3-5 mm | 1.5 mm | 2.0 mm |
| 5-12 mm | 1.5 mm | 3.0 mm or larger |
| Above 12 mm | 2.0 mm or larger | 3.0 mm or larger |
Other machine makers' guides give the same steps for carbon steel: 1.0 mm below 3 mm, 1.5 mm for medium plate, and 2.0 mm or more from about 10 mm. Treat these as starting points only - laser power and your machine's own cutting table decide the final size. High-power machines cutting thick plate use the larger tips; we list tips up to 5.0 mm in the D32 and M12 families.
Standard vs High-Speed Nozzles
Both types are listed in single and double layer. A high-speed nozzle has a different internal shape that speeds up the gas jet - one laser machine maker's guide describes it as pushing gas close to the speed of sound with a stronger, more focused flow. The nozzle type is part of your cutting parameters, so buy the same type that your cutting table or your current nozzle uses. On SparesZone, high-speed nozzles are listed in D32 from 1.0 to 5.0 mm and in D28 from 1.0 to 2.0 mm.
When to Replace a Laser Cutting Nozzle
A nozzle has no fixed life - it depends on the material, laser power and hours of cutting. Check it after each use, and change it when you see any of these signs (as laser machine makers advise):
- The tip is deformed, chipped, clogged or badly burnt
- Dross, irregular lines or angled cuts do not improve after adjusting gas pressure, power or speed
- The nozzle has hit the sheet, or you see sparks or flashes from the nozzle itself
At each check, make sure the nozzle, the ceramic ring and the sensor contact faces are clean, and that no gas leaks at the seal between the nozzle and the head. After fitting a new nozzle, check beam centring: stick clear tape over the tip, fire a short low-power pulse (one machine maker's guide suggests 80-100 W) and adjust the head until the burn mark sits in the centre of the hole. An off-centre beam gives uneven edges and can cause failed piercing on thick plate.

Laser Cutting Nozzle - Frequently Asked Questions
At SparesZone, standard D28 and D32 nozzles start at ₹205 per piece. High-speed, D15 tube, M12, bullet-type and Original nozzles cost more, and each listing shows its current price. You can order a single piece online with a GST invoice. For bulk quantities, send your list on WhatsApp for a quote.
It depends on the cutting head. D32 nozzles have an M14 thread and D28 nozzles have an M11 thread. Our M14 ceramic ring is listed for the BT240S, BM109, BM110, BM111, BM111E and BM114S heads, and our M11 ring for the BM114, BM114E, BM115, BM115E, BM06K, BS04K and BS08K. If the label is unclear, measure the body of the old nozzle: 32 mm or 28 mm.
Single layer for nitrogen or air cutting of stainless steel and aluminium, and double layer for oxygen cutting of mild and carbon steel. That is the general rule laser machine makers give. On high-power machines the cutting table can call for a different type, so follow the table where it names one.
Use smaller tips for thin sheet and bigger tips for thick plate. As a starting point, one laser machine maker's published guide suggests, for carbon steel with a double layer nozzle, 1.0 mm below 3 mm, 1.5 mm from 3 to 12 mm, and 2.0 mm or larger above 12 mm. For stainless steel with a single layer nozzle it suggests 1.0 mm for 1 mm sheet, 1.5 mm for 2-3 mm, 2.0 mm for 3-5 mm, and 3.0 mm or larger above 5 mm. Your machine's cutting table comes first.
The nozzles on this page are listed for Raytools, OSPRI and DNE heads. For any other head, measure the old nozzle's body diameter, thread and height, or send a photo on WhatsApp, and we will tell you whether one of our sizes matches.
There is no fixed number of hours. Check the nozzle after each use and change it when the tip is deformed, chipped, clogged or badly burnt, after it has hit the sheet, or when dross and rough edges do not improve after adjusting pressure, power and speed.
No. Under our Return & Replacement Policy, returns are not accepted when the buyer selected the wrong item. Returns or replacements are considered for transit damage, a defective product or a wrong item delivered, if you raise the request within 48 hours of delivery; an unboxing video or photos may be asked for. That is why the three checks above are worth two minutes.
